Spotlight on: The Alliance Hack for Accessing the Female Economy
With the fintech investment market in the doldrums, there’s no better time to show our continued commitment to supporting fintech solutions for the female economy than the launch of our Alliance Hack 2023. In its fourth year, our hackathon continues to focus on some of the most salient challenges facing women’s full financial inclusion: giving women entrepreneurs access to financial and non-financial services and helping women retail customers become active investors.
New this year, building on our Greening the CVP for Women Working Group, we’re also inviting fintechs to design solutions that will help women consumers and business owners act on climate change. The women’s market has all the behavioral characteristics of being first adopters of such innovations—and our first three Alliance Hacks have shown that being successful in the women’s market means integrating gender intelligence into the customer journey design.
All three previous Hack winners have included design tenets that can be applied to climate action solutions as well: offering education and up-skilling; building communities or providing human interaction during onboarding to engender trust; and offering product solutions that are timely, relevant and affordable. We hone these tenets during our workshops and mentoring sessions with Alliance Hack finalists and leverage the unique know-how of our 90+ Alliance members.
We’ll announce the top 5 finalists live at our 2023 Summit on Nov. 9, and the first-prize winner will receive $25,000 in cash and the opportunity to take The Founders Peak stage at the Singapore Fintech Festival happening Nov. 15–19.
We extend a special thanks to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for sponsoring our hackathon this year. Please invite your network of fintechs to register for this incredible opportunity.
We’d also like to remind you to sign up for our Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Taskforce, supporting DEI and HR professionals in building their strategies, and our Gender Data Taskforce (members only), supporting business intelligence and IT teams in collecting the quality data needed to drive women-centered strategies.
Finally, to whet your appetite to register for Summit 2023, our Resource of The Month is an excellent piece of research by Mastercard into the uptake of digital financial services in Latin America by men and women through the pandemic. It offers great insights on how to accelerate full financial inclusion that will drive our discussions in the Dominican Republic. We thank Mastercard, IDB Invest, CABEI, WE-FI and last but not least, Summit host Banco BHD, for their support of this year’s event.
