Monday 30th May 2016

Woman Entrepreneur WebinarOn May 18, the Global Banking Alliance for Women and SME Finance Forum held the first in a series of joint webinars on capturing the Women’s Market for SME finance that will be conducted throughout the year. The event, “Developing Distinct Customer Value Propositions: What Banks Need to Know about the Women’s Market,” featured presentations from two of the expert practitioners who will join the GBA at the upcoming All-Stars Academy, to be held next month in the Hague, the Netherlands: Karyl Akilian, Head of Brands Management, Marketing Group, BLC Bank in Lebanon, and Daniel Gutiérrez, Vice President, Business Development, Banco BHD León in the Dominican Republic.

The webinar offered GBA and SME Finance Forum members the opportunity to learn from the presenters’ research on women’s distinct needs in financial services and behaviors and attitudes toward banks. Karyl shared how BLC Bank translated the market research into holistic value propositions for their women customers. Daniel of BHD León then showcased how his bank went about achieving staff buy-in throughout the organization — in particular, what BHD León has done to ensure that front-line sales staff understands that to deliver to women customers they must change the sales conversation to what solutions the bank has for each specific customer’s needs.

35 GBA and SME Finance Forum members from 17 countries registered for the webinar. GBA members can download Daniel and Karyl’s presentations by following the links provided and logging into the Vault.
