GBA members are dedicated to helping women reach their economic potential, and two of our banks have recently been recognized for their key roles in these efforts.

Banco BHD León in the Dominican Republic this year became the first organization in the country to receive an Igualando RD Certification from the Women’s Ministry. The bank’s Mujer Mujer program, in place since 2015, has positioned BHD León as the go-to bank for women in the Dominican Republic. The bank’s strong internal diversity and inclusion policies were part of the evaluation to qualify the bank to receive this classification, which was developed by the country’s Women’s Ministry with support from UN Women. BHD León was awarded the highest possible level, a Gold certification, based on the following criteria:

  1. Leadership and Organization
  2. Work Life Balance
  3. Recruitment processes
  4. Profesional Development
  5. Compensation
  6. Work environment and quality of life
  7. Moral and Sexual Harassment policy and procedures
  8. Communication
