Ecuador’s Largest Bank Joins GBA

, Ecuador’s largest and oldest private financial institution, has joined the Global Banking Alliance for Women as the first Ecuadorian and third Latin American bank. With a client base of 2.5 million and a 31% market share, the bank has presence throughout Ecuador and has operations in five other countries. Banco Pichincha serves more than 108,000 Small and Medium enterprises with both credit and savings products and is currently in the process of designing a Women’s Market program, with the support of the Multilateral Investment Fund’s women entrepreneurshipBanking (weB) program so that women-owned SMEs are specifically targeted and supported. “We are interested in sharing knowledge and best practice [with members of the Alliance]” mentioned Guido Cordero, Vice President of Risk Management at Banco Pichincha “We like to think beyond Ecuador”.
