Championing the Female Economy Awards 2022
At the Annual Summit, the Financial Alliance for Women announced the 2022 winners of our Championing the Female Economy Awards, given each year to outstanding Alliance member institutions that are leading with purpose to create a more gender-intelligent, equitable and sustainable financial services sector.
This year’s Female Economy Champions support women across Latin America, Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, with gender-intelligent digital innovation, inclusive leadership and sustained investment in women and women-owned businesses.
Changemaker Award: Ann Cairns
Ann Cairns, Executive Vice Chair, Mastercard, was awarded the Individual Changemaker award in recognition of her outstanding work championing innovation that drives inclusion.
Women in Leadership Champion: Banco BHD León
Banco BHD León was awarded the 2022 Women in Leadership Champion award for its remarkable progress promoting women up the leadership pipeline and becoming the first company in the Dominican Republic to earn an EDGE certification.
Access to Finance Champion: Banco Nacional Costa Rica
Banco Nacional Costa Rica was named the 2022 Access to Finance Champion for its excellent track record financing women and women entrepreneurs.
NFS Champion: NDB Bank
Banco Nacional Costa Rica was named the 2022 ANDB Bank earned the 2022 Non-Financial Services Champion award for its suite of non-financial services that enhance financial literacy, recognize achievers, and improve access to markets for women in Sri Lankaccess to Finance Champion for its excellent track record financing women and women entrepreneurs.
Impact Champion: Banco Pichincha
Banco Pichincha was awarded the 2022 Impact Champion award for providing a high percentage of loans and insurance products to Ecuadorian women across segments, including micro and small-business entrepreneurs.
Digital Innovation Champion: Tyme Bank
Tyme was recognized as the 2022 Digital Innovation Champion for pioneering the use of digital financial services to reach millions of women left behind by traditional banking.
Data Champion: BRAC Bank
BRAC Bank earned the 2022 Data Champion award in recognition of the bank’s outstanding sex-disaggregated data practices, as demonstrated by the strength and breadth of data submitted through our annual Female Economy Analytics survey.
Engagement Champion: Bank al Etihad
Bank al Etihad was awarded the 2022 Engagement Champion award for exemplifying the spirit of the Alliance network by consistently sharing and learning at our peer learning events.
Outstanding Contributor: NatWest Group
NatWest Group has earned the 2022 Outstanding Contributor award for its unwavering support for the Alliance’s mission and global leadership towards creating more equitable financial ecosystems.
