Ms. Carine Umutoni is the Managing Director of Ecobank Rwanda PLC and a vice chairperson of the Rwanda Bankers’ Association. She is a seasoned banking executive with over 20 years of experience in the financial industry, having held various senior leadership roles in the banking sector in Rwanda.
Carine holds an MBA in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy from Maastricht University in the Netherlands and a Bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance from
Damelin College, South Africa.
Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to financial inclusion, with a particular focus on closing gender gaps in access to finance. She is a passionate advocate for empowering women in the financial sector and is widely recognized for her efforts in identifying, mentoring, and developing talent—especially among women professionals.
As a dynamic and visionary leader, Carine continues to champion innovation, customer-centric growth, and inclusive finance, while playing a pivotal role in shaping Rwanda’s financial landscape.
