Greetings from Sunny Washington, and welcome to the new edition of our monthly GBA updates!

As we’ve mentionned, you should feel free to use these updates as a way to inform other GBA members of new activities you are undertaking, or share articles you think would be of interest to our members.

We look forward to your active participation in making this piece of news one that members will look forward to receiving every month.

First Quarterly Call for FY 08 On Wednesday, April 30th, 2008, the GBA held its first quarterly call for this fiscal year. Members who participated received an update on the outcomes of the GBA strategy meeting held by the governing board in Washington DC in March, as well as a renewed commitment from the governing board to enhance communication in order to allow for more engagement from all of you.Also, as the theme presenter for this call, fellow GBA member Access Bank gave a presentation on capturing the right clients. Ms. Uloma Ike, Program Manager of Access Bank’s Gender Empowerment Program, discussed the uniqueness of the Nigerian women Access is trying to serve. She also shared the bank’s new targeted branding and marketing strategy to better respond to the needs of its women clients.

CitiFinancial offers new loan product for women

CitiFinancial, Citi’s consumer credit company, has launched its new personal loan offer dedicated to women.Through this loan, women can obtain up to E26,000 that can be reimbursed in a number of installments between 12 and 84 and with an APR starting from 9.99% and a maximum of 24.80%. The new personal loan has a fixed rate and can be subscribed to at the 150 CitiFinancial points of sale in Italy.

Women Businesses Exhibit Three “G’s

Women business owners are going green, going global and giving back to their communities, according to a survey conducted by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).The study, which surveyed more than 1,200 women business owners, reported that 25 percent of women business owners are taking business abroad. Of that total, 65 percent are in Europe, 45 percent are in Asia and 43 percent are in the Middle East.
