“MoneyMoves: How Private Sector Finance Can Work for a Sustainable Future,” presents the challenges, the strategies, and some possible solutions on how the public sector can become involved in these much needed social and environmentally sustainable initiatives. In addition the report includes interviews with 15 of the world’s most impressive business leaders on their roles in environmental and social responsibility. These 15 individuals are at the forefront of leveraging finance to drive environmental and social sustainability and represent banks, investment institutions, private equity firms and regulators from nine different countries. These case studies are being used as the basis for a proposal on the most effective means to involve the private sect in moving towards a “green growth path”.
This 64 page report addresses the challenges facing the private sector in accomplishing these goals and suggests that these challenges can be addressed through awareness raising campaigns, tools to recognize and support sustainable business, and allocating funds to support sustainability projects. In the introduction the IFC indicates that they feel “the financial sector does have some of the key answers… and that it is time for leadership.”
