This month GBA Sponsor FMO, the Dutch Development Bank, and member Access Bank Ghana announced the launch of a new Female Leadership Programme aimed at building local women’s leadership capabilities and growing their support networks.
The first Female Leadership Programme brought together more than 20 staff members from Access Bank Ghana, leaders in finance from around the world and women entrepreneurs from across the country for a one-week event that employed a combination of personal engagement with the entrepreneurs, group leadership workshops, one-on-one executive coaching and strategic team work. The program was intended to drive impact in gender finance by deeply engaging with local women entrepreneurs to gain an understanding of their needs and challenges.
The program was set up under the umbrella of Access Bank’s ‘W’ Initiative – the bank’s dedicated Women’s Market program that offers financial and educational support, as well as networking and recognition opportunities for women individual clients and women business owners. The ‘W’ Initiative was first rolled out at Access Bank’s headquarters in Nigeria in 2014, and has since been expanded to the bank’s Ghanaian and Rwandan locations.
FMO is one of the sponsors of our first GBA All-Stars Academy in Africa in June, which will see participation from all countries where the Access Bank ‘W’ Initiative has been rolled out. For more information on the event, visit the All-Stars Hub.
