This diagnostic report offers a comprehensive assessment of the WFID Partnership’s work from 2019 to 2022 with public, private, and civil sector financial inclusion stakeholders in Turkey. It shows that, in less than a decade, the nation has succeeded in reducing its gender gap in access to formal financial services by nearly half. Yet there’s still a massive opportunity. 68% of women in Turkey are unserved or under-served, and research for this report calculated the potential annual banking revenue from expanding financial services offerings to women at $1.16 billion USD. This report looks at the opportunity from many angles and shows how boosting the collection and use of sex-disaggregated data can accelerate progress.
