In that role, he presides in laying a solid foundation to envision, design, and execute Egypt’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy, through ensuring an inclusive regulatory enabling environment, promoting the implementation of national projects, and launching financial inclusion focused initiatives on a national level.
This led to Mr. Bassiouny becoming the Award Winner of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion “Technical Leadership Award” for the Arab Region for the year 2023.
Mr. Bassiouny possesses more than 30 years of extensive experience ranging from marketing, business development, financial literacy, and financial inclusion
Prior to joining the CBE in 2017, Mr. Bassiouny was Business Development Director at the Egyptian Banking institute. Mr. Bassiouny also managed Egypt’s Financial Literacy Initiative “Shaping the Future”, which is now a national initiative including all influential stakeholders, and has led Egypt to win Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) awards for 4 consecutive years, winning 6 international awards.
Mr. Bassiouny holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration, American University in Cairo (AUC) and a holder of MBA from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. He is a certified Development Dimensions International (DDI) Instructor and a certified Financial Literacy Trainer. A graduate of Leadership Program for Financial Inclusion- The Fletcher School, Tufts University, Boston USA, and is a certified leader of The Leadership and Diversity Program for Regulators – Women World Banking.
