Charity Lumpa

Board Chair, Zanaco

 

Ms Lumpa is an accomplished executive and leader with over 32 years working experience in the insurance, banking, tourism and telecommunications industries. She has previously held the positions of Managing Director of the Zambia National Tourism Board, Ecobank Zambia Limited and Airtel Networks Zambia Plc where she was the first female and Zambian to be appointed into the role. Amongst her many achievements is having successfully set up Ecobank Zambia Limited as a greenfield financial institution in 2008 and became its founding Managing Director.

Ms Lumpa is the first female Board Chairman of Zanaco Plc and of the St. Ignatius College of the Jesuits. She is a member of the boards of Air Namibia (chairs the Audit Committee), Livingstone International University of Tourism Excellence and Business Management, and the project board of the Women’s Bank Zambia Limited. Her past board experiences include Chairman of SOS Children’s Villages Zambia and the Government owned Hostels Board of Management. She further serves as an investment panellist on the Malawi Innovation Challenge Fund, an impact investment fund of DFID, UKAID and UNDP in Malawi, as well as being the Vice Chairman of the Taskforce for establishing the Zambia National Advisory Board for Impact Investing.

A keen promoter of gender diversity, good corporate governance and transformational leadership she speaks at various fora and conducts executive training on board governance, and youth and female leadership development. She is the Patron of the University of Zambia Business and Economics Association and Vice Chairman of the Zambia Business and Professional Women Association.

She holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (Finance), a first degree in Public Administration and a postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management. She successfully completed the University of Oxford Women Transforming Leadership Programme, and is working on her Civility certification with Civility Experts Inc.
