Carlos serves as the Director of Global Startup, Venture, and Small Business Partnerships at Mastercard. With over 15 years of experience in payments, venture capital, investment management, capital markets, and angel investing across the USA, France, and Colombia, he has honed his expertise in partnerships, strategy, due diligence, B2B/Enterprise SaaS investing, business development, fundraising, and product management.

In 2023, Carlos joined Mastercard to lead the Small Business track within Start Path, Mastercard’s award-winning global startup engagement program. Utilizing Mastercard’s technology, expertise, and channels, the program supports innovative startups in scaling and connecting to product and partnership opportunities worldwide. Carlos assists fintechs in accessing strategic partnerships, co-innovation opportunities, and engagement with Mastercard’s global network of partners. Before joining Mastercard, Carlos held various positions at Merrill Lynch, UBS, Société Générale, Scotiabank, and Illuminate Financial VC. He holds a degree in Finance, a master’s from ESADE Business School and the London School of Economics, as well as an Executive MBA from Columbia University and London Business School. Carlos is also a CFA and CAIA charterholder. Dedicated to addressing the challenges of growing ventures, Carlos aims to create, scale, and sustain social impact by helping leaders identify opportunities to thrive. He is an angel investor and a mentor for Pygma, a pre-seed fintech accelerator for Latin American founders.
