The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)
is a member of the World Bank Group. MIGA’s mandate is to promote cross-border investment in developing countries by providing guarantees (political risk insurance and credit enhancement) to investors and lenders.
The guarantees protect investments against non-commercial risks and can help investors obtain access to funding sources with improved financial terms and conditions. Gender equality is a strategic priority for MIGA. MIGA integrates gender across its operations and supports private sector clients in implementing gender actions. The agency works with clients in the financial sector to increase access to finance for women entrepreneurs and customers, and to date has supported over $1.2 billion in lending to women. MIGA is aligned with the World Bank Group’s approach to accelerating gender equality for a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future.
