Despite the many barriers in finding common ground in the political arena the language of business seems to be the exception. Creating stronger businesses is one avenue to peace. The Peace Dividend Trust (PDT), which works with Afghanistan entrepreneurs, feels that the female entrepreneurs may be the critical drive for a peaceful future for this war torn country. Out of the 7,000 Afghan companies only 242 are owned by women, yet 3 to 5 new women owned businesses are joining the registry each month. Scott Gilmore the Executive Director of PDT says, “the untold story in Afghanistan is the rise of female entrepreneurs. They are turning into a powerful force for growth and stability.”
