Spotlight on: Investing in Women

Next week we’ll gather an unprecedented number of private sector leaders for our 2021 Summit, reflecting the progress of the financial sector in taking a strategic approach to serving the female economy.

The goal of the Annual Summit is to move the industry even further — to get ideas and give ourselves stretch assignments — and to crowd in an ever-expanding set of players to champion the female economy. We’re showcasing innovative models to increase investment in female entrepreneurs; analyzing fintech sales funnels to close the 27.6-percent gender gap in fintech usage; and unpacking what the future of work for women in the financial services sector looks like.

We’re also hosting our first-ever Gender Intelligent Investor Forum, bringing together fintechs and gender lens investors; we’ll hear pitches from this year’s Hackathon finalists; and we’ll announce the winners of both the Hack and our very own Championing the Female Economy Awards, which recognize our members for their outstanding contributions to women. We are proud of our content and lineup and encourage you all to take part and share about it on social media.

This month we’re also very proud to welcome HSBC and Banco LAFISE as members of the Alliance. We interview Sam Cooper-Grey, HSBC’s Head of Commercialization for Global Business Banking, who has led the bank on a journey to support women business owners across their many markets. We also interview Lizzeth Villatoro, General Manager of Banco LAFISE in Honduras, who reflects on her personal responsibility to Honduran women, acknowledging that the market is wide enough for all institutions to serve.

We thank our generous Summit sponsors Mastercard and HSBC; our wonderful and committed members; our knowledge and strategic partners; and our many old and new friends who are dedicated to championing the female economy.

Thank you all, and see you online next week.
