Spotlight on: Gender Intelligent Fintechs
We’re super excited this month to report that a strong pool of fintechs have already applied to our second annual Hackathon in partnership with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and encouraging all of you to pass on the invitation to fintechs you know can meet our challenges. The deadline is July 17.
As we gather use cases of gender intelligent approaches that fintechs are taking to target and add value to the women’s market, we heard from four notable examples—Tyme Bank, WorldRemit, LXME and Kaleidofin—on how they are using sex disaggregated data to drive decisions during our second #FintechFridays session. These fintechs cater to distinct women segments and have compelling business results. Steeped in market insight and constantly analyzing usage data to build more value for women, they are now part of our emerging use case canon on fintechs and the female economy.
This research will be published at our 2021 Summit, registration for which is now open. Like last year, this is open to all, and we guarantee compelling content, world class speakers and great networking opportunities.
Investors have a big role to play in making financial services more gender intelligent and this month we welcome our newest member, Educate Global, an impact investor focused on mid-caps targeting the health, nutrition and education sectors in East Africa. As Sandrine Henton, Managing Director notes, these sectors will drive positive outcomes on the continent and mid-caps are the segment that can make the big difference to these value chains. They are also the sectors dominated by women as employees and as consumers. Banks can support by funding and investing in these real economy sectors where women play such pivotal roles. Five team members of the Educate Global Fund, our first private equity member, attended our All-Stars Academy earlier this year and we are delighted that our work adds so much value to investors so critical to building out a gender intelligent economy.
Last but not least this month, we want to give a shout out to all 180 students in our current All-Stars Academy en español, to our members and partners who shared their activities in this month’s network news roundup and to EcoBank who shared their approaches to hiring more women during our diversity and inclusion working group.
As our Alliance widens our influence, we thank you all for being a part of it.
