About NMB

Previously a government-owned institution, NMB Bank was established in 1997 as National Microfinance Bank Limited. The bank was privatized in 2005 and became NMB Bank. Today the institution offers a range of banking services to individuals, small- and medium-enterprise owners, and large corporate clients, with a focus on supporting the agriculture sector. NMB operates through a network of over 200 branches, more than 700 ATMs and nearly 6,000 POS terminals throughout Tanzania.

The Program

NMB Bank is developing its Women’s Market program, through which it plans to serve women MSME owners with access to finance and business and financial education services. The bank organizes networking events and trainings on topics women in business find highly relevant, like technological advances, corporate governance, marketing, import/export and financial literacy, via 34 Business Clubs in the country. The bank also has a strong diversity and inclusion proposition that includes a dedicated women’s networking and learning platform and targets for female representation in the workforce.
