BancoSol was founded in 1992 in Bolivia and has been the first regulated bank dedicated to microfinance in the world, giving access to microcredit to thousands of Bolivian families excluded from the formal financial system. It currently serves more than 1 million entrepreneurs in the micro and small business sector, leading multiple banking in the country.

About the Program

BancoSol serves more than 1 million entrepreneurs in the Bolivian micro and small business sector, with a complete portfolio of financial services designed to promote their sustainable and inclusive economic and social development.

50% of its total clients are women, whom are currently suported by the entity with more than 860 million dollars in credits for the development of their businesses. 45% of the bank’s credit clients are female customers.

The entity has a credit portfolio of 2,000 million (USD), and servs throughout the national territory with 750 service points, including own branches, ATMs and non-financial correspondents; Puntos Sol Amigo express.

At corporate level, BancoSol has a strategic objective of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, strongly attached to its vision of sustainability.
The entity has signed the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), and is consolidating an internal gender equity culture in the organization, where 44% of its board members are women; 22% of its senior management and 51% of its 3,151 employees.
